University Foot and Ankle is dedicated to offering premium foot and ankle care to all patients, not just those with the best insurance plans. That is why we welcome more health insurance plans than any other Foot and Ankle Practice in Southern California. We accept plans offered by most major insurance carriers, Medicare, and the Covered California and Healthcare.Gov Exchange plans.

 

We update our list of insurance providers frequently, but if you do not see your provider below or want to confirm that we accept your insurance, please call us at 877-989-9110 or email us and we will get back to you promptly.

We believe access to high-quality health care should be a right for all, not a benefit for some. So University Foot and Ankle Institute accepts almost 1000 different insurance plans to help make that a reality.

 

Not only do we accept most insurance plans, but we were also the first foot and ankle specialty practice in the country to accept most plans provided under the Affordable Care Act (aka "ObamaCare") and Covered California. Additionally, most worker compensation and workplace personal injury cases are accepted. Don't see your plan listed, please call us at (877) 989-9110 or email us.

Please bring your current insurance card(s) each time you visit our office. Believe it or not but some plans will not allow us to see you unless you present your card at the time of your appointment.

Please bring your current insurance card(s) each time you visit our office. Believe it or not but some plans will not allow us to see you unless you present your card at the time of your appointment.

 

What can be done if UFAI does not participate in your Insurance Plan?

If you are a member of a plan in which our physicians do not participate, you may be able to use "out of network" benefits. Please check with your plan administrator for guidelines. Because we do not participate in these plans, we are unable to file claims to your insurance carrier, request referrals, or obtain authorizations for tests or medications so you will need to submit your own paperwork. As an alternative to "out of network" benefits, you may receive a discount for payment in full at time of service.

 

How we handle health insurance billing at University Foot and Ankle Institute:

We bill your insurance provider for each visit, and you cover the co-payment or deductible, just like you would at any doctor's office. The amount that you owe depends on the specific health insurance plan you have.

 

We do not determine how much you need to pay at the time of your visit or what is covered, your insurance company does and their computer simply tells us what we need to collect from you at the time of your visit.

 

If you have any questions about your particular coverage, please call the phone number on your insurance card to learn more about your coverage. For your co-payment or for those who prefer to pay out-of-pocket, we accept cash, checks, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover and debit cards displaying one of the credit card logos. We cannot accept ATM debit cards without logos.

We are dedicated to offering the highest quality foot and ankle care to all of our patients and not just those with the best insurance plans. We believe quality health care should be a right and not a privilege. When we started our practice more than ten years ago we made a conscious decision to fight the alarming trend of doctors only accepting insurance plans based on how well the plan paid the practice for services. We believe this is bad for medicine and obviously bad for many people in need.

 

University Foot and Ankle Institute accepts as many insurance plans as possible. We are proud to be the first and still one of the only foot and ankle practices in Southern California to fully participate in the new Covered California Exchange Plans and accept many HealthCare.gov exchange insurance plans for out-of-town patients.

 

We all know that medicine is a business, that is a fact of the American health care system. All of us at UFAI work hard to feed, house, and provide for our families. But none of us become doctors, nurses, medical technicians, or assistants to deny health care to those who need care. Far from it.
